Middleton started the game really strongly and had the Aces on the backfoot straight away. It was no surprise when they went 1 nil up, but the Aces hit back right from the kick off with a fine solo goal from Jordan. Unfortunately the momentum stayed with Middleton and apart from some good moves by the Aces, Middleton again took the lead after a fair amount of pressure.
Credit must go to the Aces for weathering the storm and pulling level once again with Niall beating the offside and slotting the ball home - with his left peg - from the edge of the opposition penalty area. After drawing level the Aces came into the game more and played attractive football in patches.
The second half started well for the Aces and they continued passing the ball around, but Middleton were really well organised as a team and didn't allow the Aces much time on the ball. The third Middleton goal was an unstoppable free-kick which was followed quickly by a fourth and for a time the Aces heads went down. A few formation changes gave the Aces more options in attack and although the Middleton defence was put under pressure towards the end, they always looked capable of breaking quickly.
At the end of the day the result was a fair reflection of the game but the Aces should take heart from the fact that they never gave up and Middleton knew they had been in a hard game.
In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
